Sighting in My new S&W AR-15

So this weekend I finally got to go and shoot my new AR-15. I was so excited! Like a kid the day before Christmas.

My father in law and I got to the range got out targets up and got to it. At first I wasn't really paying much attention as to where my shots were going. After getting used to the recoil (which wasn't bad at all) i started to see that all of my shots were going high. So i proceeded to adjust the elevation nob on my Eotech clone. Yes i said clone. I soon discovered that I perhaps should have went all out on my optics.

For some reason, when adjusting the elevation up or down the circle dot was moving up and down when I was turning the knob in the direction for it to go down. So I figured that's all the adjustment it had! I was PISSED!! You can see my frustration in the youtube video. I dropped 130.00 and I didn't have the option of returning it. I bought it off of Gunbroker.com and the time that I had to return it had already lapsed.

After calming down a bit I decided that I wasn't going to waste any more ammo on messing with it. So I decided to shoot my Taurus .45 PT-845 and my German K-98 a bit. It didn't make me feel any better. I really wanted to get the AR dialed in. At that point i decided to pack it up and call it a day.

After I got home I went straight to my bar, made a cocktail and headed for the workbench in my shop.

The first thing i did was take that HoloSite off and try to see what it was doing. After spending a little time with it i realized that the stupid thing was going up and down BUT it was going up higher every time it cycled. So there was more adjustment than i realized when i was at the range! Oh well. That gives me an excuse to go out and try again!

Needless to say it was a ton of fun to shoot. It is by far my favoite gun in my collection! Hopefully next time i get it out i dont have any problems. Knowing my luck ill get the thing Zeroed and it wont hold it.... lol
