CCW Tip

As you all know, I just got my Concealed Carry Licence. At the class, the issue got brought up on how to handle a traffic stop or any encounter while carrying a concealed weapon. What was taught to me was to inform the officer that you are a permit holder and let then know that you are carrying. Not "I HAVE A GUN!!!!" That would freak anyone out!!!

While nosing around on the net I came across a video of an alternate way to handle a traffic stop or any instance where the officer asks for identification and you are carrying. This is great advice from one of the foremost authority's in personal protection and police work Massad Ayoob. Honestly it makes perfect sense.

Guns And Blenders

Recently in the news there was a story out of Arizona about a black gentleman that attended the presidential town hall meeting. You may have heard about this on the news.

By looking at him he looks like a regular guy. He could be you neighbor or perhaps an attorney. I don't know, all I'm saying is he looked like you and I outside of one thing. He had a AR-15 slung over his shoulder.

Of course the media ATE this up.... but what I don't get is why the big deal? Sure he's carrying a rifle that can kill someone but why is it shocking? Cars kill people and you don't see the media interviewing the people that drove to the town hall.

People don't drop their jaws at blenders either. I bet those nasty contraptions have malled a hand or two. Perhaps we should put a ban on them? It may save lives! You never know.

Bottom line is that guns are tools. As are blenders. Inanimate objects. If you plug in a blender and flip the switch, I bet it would maim some tomatoes into submission. A tomato killer so to speak. The same goes for guns. Load a bullet into the chamber, pull the trigger and it goes BANG!
The one thing that they have in common is the operator. There in lies the problem. Not firearms or blenders.

I suggest a people ban.

But that would be silly.

CCW is done!

I completed the Concealed Carry course today. Here is some video from the shooting portion of the class. I had a lot of fun doing it. I haven't really had a chance to shoot my Beretta 92/FS but i ran 15o rounds through it and it shot flawlessly. This is Bob Veneco, a friend of the family who took the class with me, shooting it.

Here i am testing out a Glock 26. I really liked it. The size was great for concealed carry but I still felt it was too fat for a 9mm.

As far as the class itself I highly recommend any shooter or person interesting in learning about personal safty options to take it. It was very informative. Even if you don't intend to carry just the information offered was worth the cost of the class(which by the way was very affordable @$100.00). We discussed Ohio laws, different shooting techniques and equipment. If you are interested in taking the class, it is offered by Officer Brian Gano of the Hilliard Police. The class is not affiliated with the department but you can contact him there at (614)876-2429. If he isn't there just leave a message and he will get back with you.

Concealed Carry

Last night was the first night if my concealed carry course.

It was interesting but boring.

We just read from the Ohio concealed carry hand book and read stuff that the officer had pulled off the Internet about gun safety and incidences where people have successfully defended themselves with thier firearm.

Tonight he has a laser simulator or something so we get to pretend shoot stuff.

I will post again soon.

I think im officially done with Genn..

As soon as I saw this I was curious about the validity of what was being said.

It seemed fishy that they start out by saying " I wouldn't try this at home, so I took someone else's computer to do it. "

Then they continue to say that the system is "bogged down.. guess that's what you get for a multi million dollar web site BUT this is what the disclaimer REALLY said (but were not going to show you..).

I went on the Cars.gov website and looked for a DEALER SUPPORT titled page and i didn't find one. And i checked every page.

So i guess we should be good little watchers and take what Glenn has to say and treat it like its gold. Sure he stands for some things that I believe in, but this is JUST RIDICULOUS!!!

To shore up the fact that Fox News and MSNBC has their own agendas, check out Huey's Gunsight's Latest post on William Kostric

I don't know what to believe anymore.
I believe Will though!!!

On a lighter note.

Here is a useful chart to tell you if you gonna get some tail....

Nationalized Health Care

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I am in the know as far as the health care issue is concerned, however I am not dumb. I have experience government ran "Benefits" before. I, just as may before me, have served in the military and one thing that I was taught early on was that we were there to uphold democracy and NOT practice it.

That, I feel, is going to sum up the health care reform. The health issues that face many Americans can, and perhaps will, be put on hold for special interest groups and lobbyist own interest. Just as it has been with our current system.

All I hear is " They are gonna do this" or "they are going to do that."

The bottom line is that I don't think ANY of them know what the hell they are doing.

There is no way that you can pass legislation that contains 1300 to 1800 pages and be able to dissect it all and debate the pros and cons in 2 or three weeks. Just as they have with the Stimulus Package.

OK .... I'm ranting.

I found a video that sums my feelings up very well..... Hence this whole post.

Giving my personal experience and the history of the United States, this is what is going to happen if this crap is passed...I pray that some good comes of this for our childrens sake.

Ice Cream

I just had an ice cream man drive down the street.....

What possesses someone to do that for a living?

I'm not saying that is a bad thing, and that all ice cream men are bad. Good for the driver trying to make a living!

I just think that when you are growing up you set goals in life. and if you really want them, you strive for them.

Did this guy wake up one morning and say " Hey, I want to bring joy to children. I think ill sell ice cream out of a truck." If that is the case, then good for him, and god bless!

But what if it isn't?

I wish I wasn't asking this question.

The Ruger LCP

I recently bought a Ruger LCP. Normally wouldn't buy a pistol like this, but I was hanging out with Pete over at Huey's Gunsight and he planted the seed.

He had just bought a S&W AR-15 and I was helping him install a sling attachment plate to it. He and I were talking and he pulled out his concealed carry piece. It was a Kel-Tec P3-AT. I was surprised at how small it was! He popped out the mag, cleared the gun and handed it over to me.

At first I couldn't get over the size. How could a gun this small be so comfortable in your hand? While I was checking it out, he was telling me that the Ruger LCP was a clone of the P-3AT but the Ruger was more polished and refined.

I did some research on the Kel-Tec and the Ruger, and decided that I was going buy one, but spend the extra cash on a Ruger. Granted, they are more or less the same gun, but I didn't care for the finish of the Kel-Tec. Also, the over molding in some places on the pistol grip itself was a bit unsightly. You can easily sand it off, but I didn't want to go through the trouble.

I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but everything I have read and seen about it tells me that I'm not going to be disappointed.

Our Tax Dollars Well Spent.

I just came across these pic's on the net. Im a sucker for bad ass naval ships and this one is SWEET. I would love to be out on this one!

It is intended as a small assault transport with a variety of capabilities depending on the mission module installed. The ship is a trimaran design capable of over 40 knots (74 km/h; 46 mph), and will probably be delivered to the US Navy in September 2009.
